Mō te tūranga | About the role 

Visionwest’s Housing Service provides assistance to the most vulnerable families in need, exploring appropriate immediate housing solutions for youth, individuals and whānau. The support offered is holistic, wrap around support for whānau that have been homeless or are at risk of losing their tenancy.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Support Navigator role include:

  • Provide specialised housing services, analysis, advice and recommendations. 
  • Provide practical assistance to whānau to support and sustain their housing journey.
  • Regularly engage with whānau to review assessments and goal plans.
  • Provide social work support to whānau as part of caseload as directed by Team Lead.
  • Coaching and mentoring of new social workers and social work students.
  • Ensure interactions and actions with whānau are professionally and accurately recorded on the Visionwest data system within 48 hours of occurrence.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and new initiatives.

With a wealth of social work experience you will be able to provide guidance and support to team members and function as a 2IC within our Housing service to ensure productivity and cohesion.

Qualifications and Experience we are looking for:

  • Social Worker Registration Board registration and annual competency.
  • Undergraduate social work degree.
  • Several years of social work experience.
  • Full Class 1 Drivers License.
  • The ability to provide independent specialised technical services requiring general application of social work practices, techniques, concepts and theoretical principles.
