Mō te tūranga | About the role 

Visionwest’s Housing Service provides assistance to the most vulnerable families in need, exploring appropriate immediate housing solutions for youth, individuals and whānau. The support offered is holistic, wrap around support for whānau that have been homeless or are at risk of losing their tenancy.

Key responsibilities of the Support Navigator role include:

  • Ensure prompt initial contact with whānau according to housing contracts, completing required documentation and compiling Social Work assessments. 
  • Regularly review assessments with relevant recommendations for their whānau-driven goal plans.
  • Engage with whānau regularly as per their needs and contractual requirements, maintaining updated databases and correspondence and supporting them in liaising with the Tenancy Team.  
  • Encourage community involvement and broaden whānau networks through positive engagement, while advocating for them in meetings with internal and external services and collaborating with Tenancy Managers to achieve positive outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience we are looking for

  • Social Worker Registration Board registration and annual competency.
  • Undergraduate social work degree.
  • Several years of relevant experience preferable.
  • Full Class 1 Drivers License.
