Visionwest Community Trust is an award-winning, not-for-profit organisation with faith-led roots, that provide a range of social services to communities in Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Waikato, and Christchurch.  Visionwest exists to address homelessness, reduce poverty, support the elderly, and ensure young people have hope for the future. For over 30 years, Visionwest Home Healthcare has been providing quality Home Healthcare and Individualised funding services for older adults and people living with disabilities with a team of over 1,300 support workers spread throughout the different regions. 

Mō te tūnga | About the Role

Our Support Workers are part of a dedicated and well-supported team, assisting our clients to live as independently as possible in their homes with a range of different tasks that include: 

  • Personal Care: Assist with daily living activities, including meal planning and preparation according to the clients dietary requirements or request, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while respecting the client's dignity and privacy. 
  • Home Management: Perform basic housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, cleaning, and organizing, to maintain a safe and hygienic living environment. 
  • Medication Oversight: Monitoring, assisting, checking, observing or prompting the client when taking their medication 
  • Manual Handling:  Assist clients with walking and transferring, ensuring their safety and comfort 

Mōu ake | About you 

  • Experience: Previous Support Work experience is preferred but not required. Full training will be provided. 
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish trust and rapport with clients.
  • Personality:  A compassionate, patient, and empathetic attitude, with a genuine desire to help others. 
  • Transportation: Reliable transportation to get to and from the client’s home. 
  • Driver License: Must have full or restricted drivers licence to be considered for the role 
  • Working Rights: Be eligible to work in New Zealand
