Mō te Tūnga | About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated Youth Employment Broker to join our Ōhinga Tū team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing specialised job brokering services to rangatahi (young people), supporting them as they transition into the workforce and navigate employment opportunities. You'll build and maintain strong relationships with local employers, external agencies, and training providers to ensure our rangatahi have the skills, support, and opportunities they need to thrive in sustainable employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Job Brokering: Match rangatahi to suitable job placements based on skills and aspirations.
- Employer Relations: Build partnerships with local employers to understand their workforce needs and create opportunities for rangatahi.
- Labour Market Insights: Provide expert advice on the local labour market, trends, and employer expectations to inform recruitment strategies.
- Mentorship: Support rangatahi in their employment journey, offering post-placement guidance to ensure their success.
- Collaborative Work: Work closely with the Ōhinga Tū team, external agencies, and training providers to align services and enhance employment outcomes.
- Capacity Building: Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Ōhinga Tū service and participate in team-based culture and engagement activities.
- Reporting: Ensure accurate, timely reporting on placement outcomes, labour market trends, and other key performance indicators.
Mōu Ake | About You
To be successful in this role you will need the following qualifications & experience:
- Expertise at degree level with relevant technical or commercial experience extending over several years.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to engage both with rangatahi and employers.
- A commitment to working within a kaupapa Māori framework and the values of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Knowledge of the local employment market and youth development.
